  • Case Study 1

    Ramada Birmingham Oldbury

The site lies adjacent to the Titford Canal with Titford Pool to the west. Early maps of the area show that a colliery existed in the field directly adjacent to the north of the site along with four others.  The 1884 Ordnance Survey map indicates a windmill at the southern boundary of the site area. A Civil Engineering Contractors yard was built on the site during post-war redevelopment of the area.

Nowadays the site of the Titford Canal Basin is better known as a favoured nesting place for wild fowl and is particularly noted for its spectacular heron population.

The site remains a classic example of maintaining the black country heritage.

    Old School Court

The site was originally used for a Junior
School during the early part of the 20th
century and in later years becoming an
annexe to Bilston College. After the College
closed the building became derelict and was
eventually pulled down in 2002/03 when the
    site was closed.

Fortmere acquired the site in late 2003 and
began to build Old School Court in early 2004.
The project to build one and two bedroom
luxury apartments was completed in 2008.
All 45 properties are currently on the rental
market, which is generally at its capacity.

Old School Court lies next to Ladymoor
Pool Nature Reserve, with the old school
playing fields now being home to a number
    of horses.
